About This Opportunity

The Compost Project Manager is primarily responsible for oversight of the Compost department, including oversight of compost staff, outreach, education, operations, data and financial reporting, communications, and other collaborations. This position reports to the Deputy Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee program areas of the Compost Department, including food and horticultural waste processing, compost education, compost outreach and other initiatives.
  • Assure alignments of goals and deliverables to QBG’s strategic plan and other strategy documents.
  • Align with various metrics as laid out by grant funding.
  • Oversee purchasing, maintenance, insurance and operation of equipment, machinery and tools, submit credit card reports and process other billing.
  • Provide support to community composting sites as per work plan (support community hosted food scrap drop-off sites, provide technical assistance, etc),
  • Recruit, organize and oversee compost internship program.
  • Teach compost education courses; conduct tours.
  • Assist Operations Coordinator with organic waste processing and distribution.
  • Maintain onsite compost demonstration yard.
  • Manage Compost Instagram account, in partnership with QBG Marketing department.
  • Train other members of the team on equipment and site operations as needed.
  • Support the compost team as needed and/or directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of Program and Staff Management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, horticulture science or other science discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with a wide range of computer applications (Excel, MS Word, Acrobat Pro, Later)
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Comfort and ability to interface with the public
  • Ability to prioritize work load and work independently
  • Experience in teaching compost science, indoor and outdoor composting techniques
  • Experience in working with and leading adult and youth groups
  • Ability to lead and assist physical projects, and lift 40 pounds
  • Valid drivers license with willingness and ability to drive large vehicles

Schedule:

This is a full-time, exempt position with weekly on-site work, and some flexibility to work remotely. Schedule is generally Sunday through Thursday.

Salary Range: $60,000 - 66,000
