Licensing Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid California ClassC driver's license with Passenger Endorsement, OR a ClassBorClassA license with passenger endorsement, all in good standing.

  • A CDL‑ClassC“P” endorsement is legally mandatory to operate vehicles designed to transport 10+ passengers

  • Minimum of1full year of professional driving experience—ensuring familiarity with passenger handling, safe vehicle operation, navigation, and scheduling.
Job Description

The Bus Driver provides safe transportation for residents to and from off-campus activities, shuttle shopping, medical appointments, and scheduled events. This role collaborates closely with Resident Services and Life Enrichment teams in both Independent Living (IL) and Assisted Living (AL) to support transportation needs. The ideal candidate demonstrates and upholds the Organization's Mission, Core Values, corporate strategy, and objectives. This position reports directly to the Resident Services Manager.


Essential Functions

  • Safely transport residents to and from campus activities, appointments, shopping trips, medical visits, and events.

  • Assist residents with boarding and disembarking, including those using mobility aids (e.g., canes, walkers).

  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.

  • Demonstrate professional boundaries with residents, staff, management, and vendors.

  • Adhere strictly to company policies, including the Corporate Compliance and Ethics Code of Conduct.

  • Respond to verbal and written communication within 24 hours.

  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings.

  • Assist with special projects as required.

  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor to other staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department director.


  • Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid California Class C driver's license with Passenger Endorsement (for OCW commercial vehicles), maintained in good standing throughout employment.

  • Clean driving record for the past three years, insurable by OCW's auto insurance carrier.

  • Strong documentation skills, including grammar, spelling, and organization.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English with residents, staff, families, vendors, and business partners.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and TB test.

  • Availability to work over 40 hours per week (with department director approval) and flexibility for varied scheduling.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Professional communication skills at all levels.

  • Ability to multitask effectively and adapt to high-pressure, changing business conditions.

  • Proficiency in computer use and associated software.
