About this position
The education manager supervises and evaluates education supervisors within the organization's Early Learning Program. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with an upbeat, positive attitude who is eager to support the organization's mission and achieve its strategic goals.
What you'll be doing
- Making administrative decisions for the regions in the absence of the regional director;
- Developing plans and strategies to maximize cooperation between the program and the rest of the organization;
- Processing program paperwork in the absence of the regional director;
- Providing guidance and leadership in the training, career development, and evaluation of staff;
- Conveying program needs to the regional director;
- Participating in and leading regional education management meetings;
- Representing the program and the organization in the community;
- Preparing reports and presentations on curriculum, child assessments and outcomes, CLASS, and quality assessments for the organization's Program Committee;
- Communicating with the Training and Professional Development Department to ensure staff training needs are being met by analyzing the data received from the education management team;
- Collaborating with the compliance manager to assist in any reporting or monitoring that may be needed to ensure the Head Start programs are operating with fidelity;
- Developing and maintaining a consistent onboarding process for new teaching staff;
- Maintaining current knowledge of licensing regulations and respond to site visits from Community Care Licensing as needed;
- Maintaining current knowledge in child development theory and practice, including program curriculum, with an emphasis on HighScope curriculum;
- Maintaining current knowledge of Title V, Title 22, and Head Start funding terms and conditions, as well as any other funding sources for the regions;
- Assisting with planning and presenting at workshops, modeling appropriate supervision styles, and providing other coaching experiences for the management team;
- Identifying opportunities to improve curriculum and program services;
- Making recommendations to the program directors regarding Early Learning Program procedures;
- Developing and maintaining on-call staff schedules and scheduling of education management based on program needs, including accommodating leaves of absence;
- Substituting as needed;
- Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis according to the organization's policies and procedures;
- Assisting the regional directors as needed;
- Actively participating in staff meetings and the annual in-service;
- Abiding by all agency policies and procedures;
- Attending trainings as required;
- Performing other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in child development, education, or a related field;
- Child development site supervisor permit;
- Three years of supervisory experience in a child development setting;
- Four years of professional teaching experience in a child development program;
- Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English;
- California driver's license, daily use of an automobile, and current automobile liability insurance;
- Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese (preferred).

Job specifications
- Reports to the assigned regional director;
- Exempt, full-time, 12-month work year;
- Eight-hour workday, four-day work week;?

- $92,000 – $98,000 per year
