Job Summary
The Employment Coordinator facilitates and implements all phases of the hiring process for full-time and part-time staff and student workers. Creates job postings, screens applicants, schedules and conducts interviews, and coordinates job offers. Assists with a variety of other Human Resources functions, including onboarding, benefits, and training.
Essential Job Functions
- Facilitates and implements all phases of the hiring process for full-time and part-time staff and student workers.
- Assists with job posting and advertisement processes.
- Screens applications and selects qualified candidates.
- Schedules interviews; oversees the preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
- Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews, and collaborating with hiring managers and other stakeholders.
- Conducts reference checks and collects other relevant information to make informed hiring decisions.
- Knowledgeable of Hillsdale College benefits, perquisites, and processes and effectively communicates such information to job candidates and employees.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as Hillsdale College policies.
- Greets and assists student workers and students seeking employment on campus in a positive and helpful manner and assist with the completion of new hire paperwork.
- Obtains position authorization form(s) from hiring supervisors before accepting new hire paperwork from student applicants.
- Timely and accurate input of new hire student worker data, pay rate changes, additional position assignments, and separation/termination into HRIS.
- Completes third-party requests for verifications of employment.
- Compiles, scans, links, and maintains confidential information into electronic personnel files. Maintain paper files as appropriate.
- Serve as department backup for new hire orientation and onboarding processes.
- Perform a variety of other Human Resources related duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field or equivalent work experience is required. Three years of experience with recruiting and hiring practices is preferred. Prior experience in higher education is desirable, or a combination of education, training, or experience is sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job.

- Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
