We are currently hiring a skilled Foundry Equipment Project Engineer. In this dynamic role, you will manage and execute projects involving custom-designed vibrating equipment for foundries and other heavy industrial applications. Working collaboratively with experienced designers and sales representatives, you also will leverage your foundry process expertise and engineering skills to ensure successful project outcomes and customer satisfaction. You will interface with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, efficiency, and quality in every project you oversee.


This role could potentially lead to a future position in foundry sales.


Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.


What you'll do

  • Design and cost estimation of primarily custom foundry equipment but also for other heavy industrial application, ensuring adherence to customer specifications.
  • Formulate technical specifications and develop comprehensive proposals encompassing both technical and pricing aspects.
  • Supervise and conduct testing on materials provided by customers, covering processes such as casting cooling, sand screening, casting orientation, and conveyance. This testing could be conducted in our laboratory or at a customer's facility.
  • Oversee the development of equipment engineering drawings, both customer approval & manufacturing, by directing and guiding designers. At times this may require visits to the customer's facility for measurements, interface verification, and evaluation of the existing plant processes.
  • Review of equipment manuals which compile detailed operating instructions for the foundry (or industrial) equipment. On occasion it will be necessary to develop equipment processing parameters for the manuals.
  • Offer technical consultation to internal teams and customers, resolving field issues as they arise. Occasional visits to the customer's facility will be required.
  • Efficiently manage projects, delegating tasks both internally and externally, and oversee multiple projects across different phases.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders including internal departments, sales representatives, vendors, and customers.
  • Ensure completion of all documentation requirements as per customer specifications.
  • Assist in equipment startup, whether remotely or on-site at the job location.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering, casting technology, and knowledge of foundry processes.
  • A minimum of 5 years foundry or related experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with typical fabrication methods and materials.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, coupled with strong organizational abilities and problem-solving initiative.
  • Proficiency in computer software including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MathCAD. AutoCAD is a plus but not required.
  • Capability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional domestic or international travel, typically lasting 2-5 days.
  • Occasional overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines and address urgent issues.
