A freight logistics Coordinator understands the transportation process and its interface with business and production processes, warehousing or shipping. Effective time management is essential, as is critical thinking and the ability to solve complex problems effectively. Logistics managers must also be able to speak and write effectively, as well as assimilate information from the written word and make judgments based on the costs and benefits of various activities.

Job Responsibilities:

The Freight Coordinator will coordinate logistic information with the General Manager and Sales Manager, to conform to company needs. Will follow company compliance and completion systems to include quality control and checks and balances. The Freight logistics Coordinator will develop relationships with transportation companies, the warehouse and production managers to understand their needs as if they are customers. They also build relationships with the freight managers at customers’ businesses -- those who take delivery of the products -- to understand their requirements. The logistics Coordinator directs, or assists in directing, the allocation of both incoming supplies and outbound, finished products and stay on top of developing transportation technologies to minimize the cost, both in time and cash, to move products. Freight Logistics managers stay in communication with the appropriate people in a company, from the general manager to workers in the distribution facilities. This ensures that his or her strategies work within desired parameters. They also coordinate internal logistics work and build teams among those involved in the in-house movement of supplies, such as warehouse personnel, and with the transportation resources, such as the trucking companies that carry the finished goods.
Skills and Qualifications:
A logistics coordinator will be detail oriented. Transportation requires attention to detail in contracts and transportation requirements, such as pricing discounts or fees. Initiative is essential in logistics, because when things go awry in transportation, the logistics manager needs to take the lead in curing the problem.

Salary Information
