About the Role

The Landscape Designer II is integral to the production and delivery of projects at GGLO. They are responsible for supporting the project team in the completion of documentation and graphics in accordance with the established goals and scope of that project. They collaborate with all team members in an effective and efficient manner and work under the direction of and in collaboration with key project team members (Principal, Project manager, Design Lead, Technical Lead).


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Understand the broader context and impact of design decisions.
  • Project Coordination: Assist the Principal, Technical and Design Leads, and Project Manager in producing and coordinating project work.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain clear communication with the Principal, Project Manager, Project Designer, and other internal team members.
  • External Coordination: Coordinate and communicate effectively with external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Confidentiality: Recognize and protect sensitive and confidential information.
  • Design Exploration: Actively work to advance design opportunities within each project.
  • Problem-Solving Process: Demonstrate an open and methodical approach to solving problems.
  • Task Adherence: Follow the production team's tasks and goals to meet document development standards and deadlines.
  • Independent Judgment: Perform tasks requiring independent judgment.
  • Design and Construction Knowledge: Possess a general understanding of the phases of the design process and construction.
  • Materials and Detailing: Have a basic knowledge of materials, components, and how to detail.
  • Code and Regulation Compliance: Be familiar with industry codes and regulations, with an ability to effectively conduct research to maintain jurisdictional compliance.
  • Documentation and Specifications: Understand the parts and purpose of drafted documents and specifications.
  • Collaborative Improvement: Work with the Landscape Architecture team to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.

About You

  • Technological Proficiency: Skilled in various technology platforms and architectural software, such as Revit, AutoCAD and Rhino.
  • Graphics proficiency: Ability to produce high-level presentation vignettes, elevations and site plans that convey the design intent.
  • Media Versatility: Proficient in using a variety of media for the development and documentation of design projects through 3D BIM and physical modeling, hand sketching, photography, etc.
  • Presentation Skills: Proficient in creating and presenting graphic and written presentations.
  • Professional Communication: Present and receive constructive comments in an open, professional manner.
  • Project Delivery: Capable of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget, utilizing technical expertise and experience.
  • General understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.
  • Proactive approach to daily tasks, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently.
  • Resiliency to work effectively under pressure, managing and prioritizing tasks.
  • Team Collaboration: Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of an effective team.
  • Instruction Implementation: Efficiently convert verbal and written directions into a finished product.
  • Documentation Skills: Skilled in documenting design decisions and taking detailed notes.
  • Workflow Improvement: Interest in improving workflows and standards.
  • Skill Development: Eager to develop skills and knowledge from experts within the Landscape Architecture team and share your expertise.
  • Financial Awareness: Have a general awareness of accounting, billing processes, and financial management of projects.

This is an Exempt position with salary based upon factors including but not limited to candidate experience, knowledge, and skillset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Landscape Architecture accredited degree
  • 3-6 years of experience in landscape architectural design, supporting production and graphic documentation of projects
