Description:
The Quality Control Technician, is responsible for executing the corporate quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. This position will maintain a food safety culture and require all employees to participate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Enhance and execute the corporate quality control program, for all products based on HACCP, SQF and other approved third-party audit standards.
- Provides inspection activity for product throughout production cycle
- Be a management liaison for the company to external labs and vendors.
- Presents and lives a quality standard throughout the organization, moving company toward a higher quality culture and helps employees know their role in that culture.
- Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the Food safety fundamentals.
- Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
- Follows USDA and FDA guidelines.
- Ensures the safety of the wash tank in regard to the USDA approximate rule of 4-5 hours.
- Communicates to the lead if there are changes or problems noticed during a quality check.
- Calibrates equipment used during food processing on a weekly and bimonthly basis.
- Provides farmer audits on a weekly basis.
- Does at least 2 checks an hour from the packers. These checks will verify dirts, checks, loss, and leakers to ensure we are putting out a wholesome product.
- Verifies that each requirement stated on the carton is matched by the corresponding grower that can fulfill those needs.
- Verifies the machines cleanliness during a morning pre-op. If a food safety concern arises, take necessary measures to ensure the safety of our product.
- Maintains constant checks of the cooler to establish the safety of finished product and nest run eggs brought into the facilities cooler.
- Does occasional checks on restricts to make sure we are following the USDA standards.
- Verifies if the carton stamped would be best by or sell by and calculate the correct number of days.
- Verifies the growers listed to be packed complies with the set standard of specific cartons.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; and one year related experience and/or training preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers. Knowledgeable using scales, thermometers, and PH meters. Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is a plus.
