POSITION PURPOSE:

The Traffic Material Handler is responsible for the safe movement of materials into, out of, and around the facility including loading, unloading, preparing shipments, and entering appropriate transactions in SAP.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Enter work notification in SAP
• Enter all received materials bulk/packaged in SAP (posting goods)
• Print SAP approval labels for goods received
• Print pick list/bills of lading from SAP
• Make transactions of raw materials in SAP
• Unload bulk/tank trucks
• Load bulk/tank trucks as needed (Haz & Non-Haz)
• Unload and load packaged materials (drums, bags, totes, super sacks)
• Prepare packaged and bulk materials for shipment
• Recordkeeping (recording & filing)
• Perform detailed daily inspections of shipments and equipment
• Utilize forklift for movement of materials on site
• Perform 5S activities (sweeping, empty trash cans, consolidation of materials, etc.)
• Perform inventory counts as needed
• Operate yard dog (spotting/moving trailer in and out of tight spaces)
• Perform weekly safety shower inspections (forms completed weekly & filed)
• Perform tank truck inspections for shipment (forms filed)
• Warehousing
• Maintain materials profiles (detailed instructions for shipment)
• Environmental drum pad cleanup (steaming, crushing, shipping haz drums)
• Pallet disposal/recycling
• Other tasks as assigned by Supervision

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Intermediate computer skills including experience with SAP, MS Office, and Outlook
• DOT and HazMat certifications (required within first three months)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires: Walking, climbing stairs and standing for extend periods of time, stooping/bending, pushing / pulling, lifting, visual requirements, wearing proper personal protective equipment which may include a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus.
